Rain, thunderstorm expected in Karachi today: PMD

Karachi’s weather is expected to remain hot and humid, with temperatures reaching up to 39°C and humidity at 75%

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted rain and thunderstorms in Karachi on Sunday after light showers were experienced in parts of the city on Friday.

According to the PMD, Karachi’s weather is predicted to stay hot and muggy, with highs of 39°C and 75% humidity.

The protracted dry weather in Sindh, which includes Karachi, has been alleviated by the recent rains. In Saddar, North Karachi, and New Karachi, among other regions, there was little rain.

Chief meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz expects Sindh to get above-average rainfall during this monsoon, which is anticipated to start from July 5–6.
The PMD predicted little rain for Karachi yesterday, but Monday’s high is predicted to reach 40°C.

June 22 was officially declared a hot and muggy day in the city due to the persistent rise in humidity. The morning low temperature was 30.5°C, and the humidity was 73%, therefore the heat index was greater than the actual temperature.

The highest temperature that was recorded in the city yesterday, according to the meteorological agency, was 37.2°C, with a midday humidity of 58%.

However, on Monday, from morning to afternoon, the city may experience northwesterly breezes from Balochistan. The weather is predicted to be mainly clear, hot, and muggy, with highs of maybe 40°C.

Several neighborhoods, including New Karachi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Karachi, Bahadurabad, and the regions around Hassan Square, Saddar, Kala Pul, and Bizerta Line, had moderate to light rainfall on Friday.
