According to the aviation authorities, the incident occurred immediately following the takeoff of the 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200 at 11:11am (05:26 GMT). The jet subsequently made a right turn and crashed into the airport’s eastern sector, according to the statement. It was heading to the vacation town of Pokhara. The reason of the collision is under investigation.

According to a doctor at Kathmandu Medical College Hospital, the pilot had eye damage “but is not in any danger”.

The aviation authorities verified that the plane carried eighteen Nepalis, including one kid, and a Yemeni national.

The remains were sent to the TU Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu for autopsy.
