Addressing the Ulema and Mashaikh Conference in Islamabad, the prime minister stated that Pakistan was established after much bloodshed, and a supreme campaign for liberation was undertaken under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The 77th Independence Day of Pakistan would be commemorated with great excitement on August 14, he stated.

The Prime Minister also encouraged the clergy present to help end societal divisions and conflicts. He stated that the collective weaknesses and triumphs of the previous 77 years should be highlighted, and that the nation should learn from history to work hard day and night.

PM Sharif stated, “We must find a solution to the social and economic difficulties confronting the country. The present connection between the government and constitutional institutions has never been witnessed before.”

He said that the facts are being misrepresented on social media through the widespread use of aggressive language, and martyrs are being desecrated. “The characters in the May 9, 2023 violence left no stone untouched. The anti-nationalism of people claiming to be Pakistani must be acknowledged.”

Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan is in a dire economic crisis, and that since taking over the government, he has been accused of seeking loans in every country he has visited. “If we resolve to pay off our debts, no one can stop us. The administration is doing everything it can to help the country overcome its economic troubles. “If God wills, this IMF program will be the final one,” he promised.

Regarding the speech of the army chief at the conference, the prime minister said that there was no need to add anything after Gen Asim Munir’s enthusiastic speech. He said the army chief spoke in the light of the holy Quran under the orders of God, adding that the army chief spoke in detail about the serious economic conditions. He mentioned that the army chief’s speech was a beacon of light for everyone.
