COAS cautions against insidious threat of fake news, propaganda

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has warned against the insidious threat of fake news and propaganda being perpetrated by hostile elements to weaken the bond between the people of Pakistan and the Armed Forces, reassuring that the nation’s unwavering support, including army veterans, will defeat all such futile efforts. On Independence Day, the COAS organized a reception honoring Pakistan Army veterans, which brought together a large number of retired army officials and troops. The ceremony demonstrated the unshakable relationship between the Pakistan Army and its veterans, who are all committed to the country’s development and security, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

While speaking with Pakistan Army veterans, General Asim Munir underlined the significance of togetherness and perseverance in the face of adversity, encouraging them to continue playing an important part in Pakistan’s growth. According to the ISPR, the COAS recognized retired personnel’s efforts and praised their role in building the nation’s history.

The veterans voiced faith and confidence in the Pakistan Army’s leadership, promising to help tackle internal and foreign security threats. The occasion was attended by retired army leaders Generals Ashfaq Parvez Kiyani and Raheel Sharif, as well as officers and troops.
