KARACHI: The back offices of multinational companies (MNCs) operating in Pakistan are facing issues due to the disturbance in internet services, which is damaging to their businesses, Pakistan Business Council CEO Ehsan Malik told Dawn on Saturday.
The delay in internet services has already harmed the operations of freelancers working for global IT corporations.

Mr Malik stated that a number of MNCs have back offices in Pakistan because they can find skilled people at a cheap rate. MNCs with back offices in Pakistan include S&P, Telenor, KPMG, EY Ford Rhodes, and PricewaterhouseCoopers, among others. Recently, British American Tobacco created a back office in Pakistan.
Because these workplaces rely on fast internet connections to get supplies and ship products on schedule, any slowdowns or delays would be detrimental to their operations.

These firms are already present in Pakistan, and several multinational corporations are in the process of establishing back offices there.
They are having troubles with their poor internet service. If the issue is not handled quickly, these MNCs may reconsider their intention to relocate to Pakistan, he stated.
