Two ‘terrorists’ killed, as many cops injured in Taunsa Sharif

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Two suspects were killed and as many policemen were injured as the Punjab Police foiled an alleged terrorist attack in Taunsa Sharif.

During the exchange of fire, Wahowa Police Station SHO Sadiq Birmani was shot in the arm, while Constable Muzammil Nazir was hit in the hand. Both were sent to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Taunsa.

The event occurred as the Punjab Police were on high alert due to intelligence reports of terrorists entering Punjab with the goal of attacking police stations and strategic places. The terrorists, riding motorbikes, started an attack on the police in the Wahowa region, but the cops, armed with armored vehicles and protective gear, responded quickly.

Backup police and Elite Force troops came quickly, and two militants were killed in the ensuing battle.

The accused extremists could not be recognized. The exchange also caused damage to a bulletproof vehicle due to grenade blasts and gunfire.

The event occurred two days after a police vehicle was assaulted with rockets, killing over 12 officers and injuring many more in Rahim Yar Khan.

RPO Dera Ghazi Khan retired Capt Sajjad Hasan Khan and DPO Syed Ali went to the location and asked about the injured officer in the hospital.

According to a news outlet, four militant attacks on checkpoints along the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa border were also foiled. A search and sweep operation by police and other law enforcement authorities is now underway in the region.
