CM Maryam launches free ‘heart surgery programme’ for children

During her visit to the cardiac surgery ward of the Children’s Hospital in Lahore on Monday, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif officially launched the “Chief Minister’s Children’s Heart Surgery Programme,” which provides free treatment and surgery for children with heart illness.

She gave out “Child Surgery Cards” to the program’s meritorious patients.

“If there is no room in the government hospitals, a sick child’s operation will be performed in a private hospital,” the spokesperson declared.

She also looked over the numerous amenities in the cardiac surgery ward and examined the HDU and other hospital departments.

The Punjab CM played a game of Ludo with the young patients, gave them gifts, and asked how they were doing.

As she engaged with the kids, she prayed, saying, “May Allah grant you health; we pray for you all.”

She also spoke with the parents of the ill children and asked them about the services that were available.

“It is my goal to liberate all Punjabi citizens, including children, from the queue and waiting system,” she declared. “More specialized surgeons and support staff will be hired in order to increase the capacity of pediatric heart surgery in government hospitals.”

Additionally, the Punjab CM stated: “In the first phase, six government and designated private hospitals—including PIC and Children’s Hospital Lahore, Multan’s Children’s and PIC, and Faisalabad and Rawalpindi Cardiology Institutes—are providing pediatric heart surgery facilities.”

“In the second phase, pediatric heart surgery facilities will also be provided in the hospitals of Wazirabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Sargodha,” the speaker continued. She also took a look at the dashboard that was designed to track the program.

“I am very happy to launch the project as a mother, not as the Chief Minister,” CM Maryam added.

“I can relate to the shock that mothers feel when a child passes away,” she continued.

“The availability of cutting-edge children’s heart surgery facilities is a genuine attempt to wipe away mothers’ tears and remove the diseases of young children,” the speaker stated.

After receiving a briefing from the relevant authorities, she went on to say that over 5,000 young infants lose their lives each year as a result of delayed heart surgery. We will treat sick kids from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other regions in Pakistan’s first children’s treatment facility. Youngsters with cardiac conditions won’t have to wait long.
