Azma urges PHC to act against ‘terrorists’ hiding in KPK House

LAHORE – Azma Bokhari, Punjab Information Minister, appealed on Tuesday that the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court take action against terrorists and troublemakers sheltering in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House. “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House has become a haven for terrorists,” she told the media during her hearing before the Lahore High Court in connection with the alleged false video case. The information minister demanded that the court intervene in the situation and get a report on the terrorists who were hiding.

She said that the individuals sheltering in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House were insulting Pakistan, rather than serving it. Azma went on to say that Gandapur has been making threats and using terrorist-like rhetoric, which is unacceptable. She highlighted that the Punjab administration does not want to cause strife between provinces because Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also their province. Punjab has always performed the role of an older brother, she explained. Azma Bokhari stated that today is her sixth or seventh appearance, and that her case is being postponed repeatedly.

She claimed that her story is neither personal nor political; rather, it is the problem of all women harmed by social media. “The FIA’s ability has proven insufficient, since they were unable to remove even one bogus video. “If an app cannot be managed, it should be shut down,” she stated. She slammed the FIA for stating they wrote to Facebook but did not receive a response, implying that any institution in Pakistan that fails to reply should be held accountable. She observed that, whereas social media applications across the world are governed by rules and regulations, the situation in Pakistan is different, with anybody saying anything without consequence.
