FO condemns Israeli actions in Gaza, calls for urgent ceasefire

Pakistan’s Foreign Office has strongly condemned Israel’s military actions in Gaza, labelling them as genocide and a gross violation of international law.

Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the Foreign Office spokesperson, made the comment during a weekly news briefing.

Pakistan also voiced deep worry at the bombing of Khan Yunus’ ancient Grand Mosque, calling for a quick and unconditional ceasefire.

Foreign Secretary Mohammad Cyrus Sajjad Qazi was reported to be in Cameroon, leading the Pakistan delegation to the 50th session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Council of Foreign Ministers.

She emphasized Pakistan’s position on the ongoing slaughter in Gaza, the severe humanitarian situation, and Israeli advances that endanger Middle Eastern peace.

She also underlined Pakistan’s support for the Jammu and Kashmir people’s right to self-determination.

Since October 7, last year, Israel has carried out a savage attack in Gaza, killing over 40,500 Palestinians, the majority of whom are women and children.

According to Palestinian sources, 660 Palestinians have been murdered and almost 5,400 others injured in the occupied West Bank.

On July 19, the International Court of Justice issued a landmark ruling declaring Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and ordering the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

The spokesman also underlined Pakistan’s involvement in the 8th session of Pakistan-Oman Bilateral Political Consultations, during which both sides discussed cooperation in a variety of areas, including commerce, defense, and culture.

Pakistan and Oman both voiced great concern over the situation in Gaza, advocating for a sustainable and sovereign Palestinian state.
