Hafiz Naeem vows to change Pakistan’s future

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman addressed a large rally on Liaquat Bagh Road, highlighting the party’s ongoing protests as a beacon of hope for Pakistan and its youth. His address underscored JI’s commitment to challenging the status quo and advocating for systemic reforms in Pakistan.

Rehman applauded the demonstrators for persevering in the sweltering heat to demand their rights, claiming that their tenacity might force the government to cave. He criticized certain groups and individuals for attempting to dishearten Pakistan’s young, emphasizing that the current protests are designed to unify rather than split the country.

“The enemies of Pakistan will face defeat,” he stated, emphasizing that the JI gathering represents all provinces and reflects a united front against what he described as a corrupt elite. He said that unity would bring down the crooked class and really free the country from the clutches of the affluent and exploitative.

Rehman criticized the present political scene, claiming that it is dominated by corrupt authorities and transnational Independent Power Producers (IPPs) that have placed financial obligations on regular individuals. He advocated for the rapid closure of fraudulent IPPs, an improvement to the national grid, and a move to renewable energy sources such as wind, hydro, and solar power.

The JI leader also attacked the selling of schools in Punjab and the commercialization of education, promising to block the sale of 13,000 schools and demanding improved access to education for youngsters.

Addressing the problem of increased taxes on little things, Rehman urged the movement’s continuing opposition and advancement until its objectives were satisfied. He promised supporters that the party’s efforts would continue until systemic change was accomplished.

The JI chairman also declared intentions to expand the protests to major cities including as Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta, asking for organized demonstrations in these province capitals. He also cautioned that the continuing conflict will continue, with new calls for strikes and protests as needed.

Rehman emphasized the significance of discipline and confidence in leadership, assuring attendees that JI will not be discouraged by any challenges. He recognized the demonstrators’ power and togetherness, and attributed the party’s present momentum to their combined support.
