Heavy rainfall predicted in various parts of Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted more rain, windstorms, and thundershowers for Upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Northeast and South Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan over the next 24 hours.

Heavy rainfall is forecast in isolated areas of Northeast Punjab, the Potohar Region, Upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and AJK.

According to the synoptic situation, monsoon currents continue to flow from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal into the country’s eastern and higher areas. In addition, a westerly wave trough may be seen in the north.

Rain, wind, and thundershowers have hit numerous areas in Upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Northeast and South Punjab, Sindh, South and Central Balochistan, and Kashmir in the last day.

Cherat in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa had 46mm of rainfall, followed by Kakul with 15mm, and Kalam and Lower Dir with 1mm each.

In Punjab, Rahim Yar Khan had 18mm, Chakwal and Joharabad both reported 12mm, Khanpur got 11mm, Gujarat received 8mm, and Khanpur and Jhang reported 3mm and 1mm.

Sindh had 7mm of rain in Khairpur, 4mm in Karachi (North Karachi, MOS, and Gulshan-e-Maymar), 2mm in Chhor and Rohri, and 1mm in Tando Jam, Hyderabad (City), and Sukkur.

In Balochistan, Jiwani got 5mm and Kalat 4mm. Kashmir recorded 5mm in Kotli, 4mm in Garhi Dupatta, and 1mm in Muzaffarabad.

Chilas had the highest recorded temperature of 44°C, followed by Nokkundi and Bunji at 43°C each.
