Islamabad High Court directs ISI to assist in recovery of missing citizen

The IHC has directed that the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) be made a party in the case concerning the recovery of missing citizen Faizan Usman.

The court also directed the ISI sector commander to help the Inspector General of Islamabad in the probe.

During the hearing, Justice Babar Sattar directed the authorities to locate the abducted citizen by Thursday.

The court highlighted the need of quick action, directing the Inspector General to locate the missing person’s phone number and car.

The petitioner described a terrifying event in which unknown men invaded his home, searched it, and abducted his kid, reportedly because of suspected links to a proscribed group.

Despite attempts to contact the authorities and many trips to their offices, the family has gotten no information on their son’s whereabouts.

The petitioner also presented proof, including video footage of a car with a Quetta license plate near his home.

He voiced concern for his son’s safety, claiming that the family had been cautioned against addressing the media or the courts.

The Islamabad High Court has deferred the case till Thursday, with a clear instruction to guarantee Faizan Usman’s recovery.

Last month, in August, the federal government launched a new effort under the “National Consensus and Legal Resolution” program to provide financial assistance to relatives of missing people, paying Rs5 million to each affected family to ease their economic burdens.

The administration underlined that this decision does not constitute an admission of culpability by the state or its institutions.

Previously, in another missing person case, the IHC ordered the retrieval of missing citizen Samiullah within three days, warning police that failing to do so would result in legal action.
