Israeli forces bombard Gaza City as tanks re-enter central areas

Gaza City residents who are Palestinian claim to have witnessed one of the strongest Israeli bombardments since Israel began its assault on Hamas following the organization’s historic October 7 strike.
There are reports that Israeli tank columns are approaching the city center from many angles.
Due to violence in numerous east and west of Gaza City sectors, the Gaza Civil Emergency Service said it believes a number of individuals have been killed but has not been able to reach them thus far.
According to reports, the Al-Ahli Baptist hospital was evacuated, and its patients were transferred to the already packed Indonesian hospital, one of the few operational medical institutions in the vicinity.

The Israeli army ordered the evacuation of many central city neighborhoods before to the attack.
However, a map and evacuation order were not issued for Tel al-Hawa, one of the places most severely attacked, on the internet by the Arabic spokeswoman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Sunday night.
“The enemy is behind us and the sea is in front of us, where shall we go?” said Abdel Ghani, a resident of Gaza City.

The BBC has also been informed by others that they are unsure of where to go. There’s just one option left, they say: heading north to Gaza City’s port region.
Following an evacuation order, several people left their areas, only to discover that the new location they had chosen was under Israeli bombardment.

A freelance cameraman for the BBC claims that he did not get any instructions to evacuate from al-Rimal, which is located on the western side of Gaza City immediately above Tel al-Hawa. However, he subsequently found out that his neighbor had received orders to evacuate.
He moved northward, leaving the area with his family. Now that they are at the port area, they are without basic supplies. He claims that finding water for his kids is a struggle.
The IDF said in a statement that it had initiated a “new operation” near Tel al-Halwa throughout the course of the night in response to intelligence pertaining to Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad members in the region.

Additionally, the military declared that it was present at the Unrwa offices, the UN organization for Palestinian refugees, in the region.
According to the IDF, warnings were issued to civilians at the start of the operation, and a humanitarian corridor would be opened to allow them to evacuate the region.
The most recent Israeli onslaught in Gaza coincides with growing optimism that a ceasefire agreement may finally be reached.
According to Hamas insiders, they have backed down from a crucial demand that Israel accept a long-term truce before reaching any sort of agreement.

Discussions are anticipated to continue this week when they have restarted.
However, a statement from Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, the Israeli prime minister, may have tempered hopes a little bit by stating that any agreement could not prevent Israel from continuing to battle in Gaza until its military goals are achieved.
Mr. Netanyahu has stated time and time again that the goals are to completely destroy Hamas, both politically and militarily.
