Karachi on high alert for heat wave starting tomorrow

Karachi is on high alert for a potential heatwave starting tomorrow, as temperatures are expected to soar, intensifying the already hot weather experienced on Tuesday.

Forecasts from the Met Department suggest that today’s high in the city can reach 38 degrees Celsius.

With predicted highs of 40 to 42 degrees Celsius, Karachi is expected to experience a considerable increase in heat from May 29 to May 31. Residents are urged to take the appropriate safety measures to deal with the intense heat, according to the Met Department.

The highest temperature that is expected today is between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius. Thankfully, sea breezes have returned to the city, offering some respite. There is a 66% relative humidity in the air, and 35 km/h winds are coming from the southwest.

There is a significant health risk associated with the predicted heatwave, especially for vulnerable groups like the elderly, small children, and people with underlying medical issues. Authorities have advised people to drink plenty of water, stay out of direct sunlight during the hottest parts of the day, and get help if they feel like they may be suffering from heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

The Met Department has anticipated rain in Punjab and the country’s higher regions due to western winds and has indicated that the intense heat wave in Lahore may abate. Today in Lahore, the highest temperature is expected to be 44 degrees.
