Kashmir issue must be resolved through UN resolution: Khawaja Asif

DUNYA NEWS, ISLAMABAD – On Wednesday, India’s and Pakistan’s Minister of Defense, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, stated that a United Nations resolution is necessary to settle the Kashmir dispute.

Speaking to a private television channel, he stated that the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have made sacrifices for their freedom and that a UN resolution should be used to resolve the long-standing issue of Kashmir.

He claimed that Pakistan’s government has consistently brought attention to the suffering of the Kashmiri people in all international fora.

Speaking about constitutional amendments, he stated that we wish to propose them through consensus. He went on to say that all major groups, including the Pakistan People’s Party, support amending the constitution.

Thousands of cases are waiting in lower and higher courts, according to Khawaja Asif, and more judges could aid in giving the public access to justice more quickly.

He responded to a query concerning the Charter of Democracy by stating that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had already signed the CoD.
