Okara man kills widowed sister-in-law for refusing marriage

OKARA: A man stabbed his widowed sister-in-law to death after she refused to contract a marriage with him at village Gogera Khas on the Okara-Faisalabad road on Sunday.

According to the initial information report, Sadia, also known as Lali, 25, a member of a gypsy family, recently lost her husband. Intizar, her younger brother-in-law, expressed a desire to wed her. Intizar vowed to kill her if she rejected his offer.

After he threatened to kill her, Lali moved in with her aunt in the settlement of Gogera Khas, which is close to Chak Khan Muhammad. On Sunday night, Intizar traveled to Gogera Khas with his accomplices Badam and Younis, where they fatally stabbed Lali with a sharp object.

Boda, Lali’s brother, filed a report, and the Gogera police filed a case against the suspects.

FOOD SAFETY:

The Departments of Food Science and Technology (FST) and Human Nutrition & Dietetics (HN&D) at the University of Okara (UO) held a seminar, as well as product development and poster contests, to honor World Food Safety Day.

The purpose of the event was to promote industry-academia collaboration. In order to give students access to internship, scholarship, and employment opportunities, the UO signed five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on the sidelines of a seminar with the Abbottabad University of Science and Technology, Eastern Scientific Corporation, Pakistan Flour Mills Association, Salva Oil Mills, and Cheezious.

Speakers from academics and industry discussed food safety and hygiene methods at the event, highlighting the value of teamwork for shared benefits.
