Pakistan, US hold high-level talks on trade, security, climate change

Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch and US Acting Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs John Bass met at the level of a delegation today in Islamabad.

The two parties engaged in extensive talks covering every aspect of bilateral relations, including developments in the dialogue mechanisms currently in place for trade, energy, security, health, climate change, and counterterrorism.

The Foreign Secretary observed that Pakistan placed a high value on its ties with the US. She emphasized the significance of modernizing the bilateral procedures, particularly in the domains of defense and economy, and working to create a deep and meaningful bilateral partnership.

Under Secretary Bass expressed gratitude to the Foreign Secretary for the chance to have a meaningful conversation about matters of shared interest. According to him, Pakistan and the US want to work together to support and stabilize the economy. He conveyed his gratitude for Pakistan’s fortitude in the face of recent calamities like floods and terrorist strikes.

Additionally, Under Secretary Bass gave Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar a courtesy call.
