PIA official in UK quits over ‘fake certificate’

RAWALPINDI: The Deputy Station Manager of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in Birmingham, Javed Iqbal Bajwa, has reportedly resigned after his intermediate certificate was found to be ‘bogus’, a source said.

Javed Bajwa is allegedly the brother of former army leader Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The PIA had launched an investigation into Mr Bajwa’s intermediate certificate, which had been presented as part of his job record. The certificate was discovered to be ‘false’ after being verified by the board, and the PIA demanded that Mr Bajwa resign from his position, according to the source.

A PIA official stated that the airline sent Mr Bajwa a show-cause notice on August 30, giving him seven days to establish the veracity of his educational credentials.

Mr Bajwa’s intermediate certificate, having roll number 25703, was declared ‘bogus’ by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education in Lahore, according to the notice given by the government. The spokeswoman told a television station that top authorities had requested Mr Bajwa’s resignation.
