PM directs to remain high alert during Monsoon season

During the monsoon season, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has ordered all pertinent institutions to maintain a state of high alertness.

He gave these orders today in Islamabad during a meeting he chaired on the country’s readiness for the monsoon.

A high-level committee was also established by the prime minister to handle any emergencies that may arise during the monsoon season.

In regards to the monsoon, he also gave the National Disaster Management Authority instructions to support all provincial governments and associated organizations.

The Prime Minister stated that it is important to make sure that residents in impacted regions are informed about any anticipated emergencies related to the monsoon.

The committee was informed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to experience monsoon rainfall till the third week of the next month.

In the second, fourth, and first two weeks of this month, there will likely be significant rainfall in Balochistan’s coastline and bordering regions with Sindh.

Partial rains are predicted for Gilgit-Baltistan this month, while heavy rains are predicted for the first three weeks of August.

Massive rains and land slides are predicted for the first three weeks of this month in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The preparations for handling any emergency resulting from the nation’s monsoon rains were also briefed at the conference.

It was told that the Pakistan Army’s personnel and rescue agencies, including NDMA and PDMA, are continuously on high alert in the affected areas.

People are using a mobile app that NDMA introduced to provide monsoon alerts, weather reports, and advance information.

The gathering was informed that in order to handle any emergency scenario, a National Monsoon Contingency Plan has already been established and sent to the pertinent institutions and province governments.
