Punjab University allows Baloch student to attend classes, sit exam

LAHORE: The Punjab University on Friday allowed an LLB 5th-year Baloch student to attend classes and appear in the examination.

The university had rusticated Sadia Baloch for uttering unpleasant statements about public institutions during a rally on the New Campus on June 10.

According to the official notice, the top security officer advised that Sadia be suspended for 15 days, but the Law College had already given her admission before receiving the suspension letter.

As a result, her examination this year would be unaffected; nevertheless, the disciplinary committee will contact her and make a judgment later. Until then, she can take the test and attend departmental classes.

On the suggestion of the chief security officer, the PU VC has granted Sadia permission to attend courses and take the examination, and the final result/degree would be provided following the disciplinary committee’s judgment.

Ms Baloch informed Dawn that following the examination, she will go before the disciplinary body to deliver her account. She stated that she was attending the protest event when her fellow classmates were being taken up by police officials. She stated that the gathering demanded the release of their fellow classmates.

Meanwhile, the Punjab University Department of Examinations has uploaded roll number slips for the upcoming LLB exams for the three-year and five-year programmes, scheduled to commence on Aug 22, 2024.

Regular students from affiliated colleges have received their slips via email, while campus-based students can download them from the university’s website.
