Refused lucrative foreign offers to compete for Pakistan: Arshad Nadeem

In a recently resurfaced interview, Pakistan’s champion javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem shared insights into the challenges he faced and the foreign offers he turned down out of loyalty to his country.

Despite getting rich offers from nations such as the United Kingdom, UAE, Turkey, and Uzbekistan, Arshad stated that he had decided to represent only Pakistan.

He emphasized his patriotism, even when success appeared unattainable.

Arshad stated that, while he acts as a brand ambassador in Uzbekistan, he would only compete for Pakistan.

Arshad has won multiple medals in important tournaments such as the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, World Championships, Islamic Solidarity Games, and Asian Junior Championship.

His most recent success is particularly noteworthy: he won the gold medal in the Paris Olympics 2024, setting a new javelin throw record of 92.97 meters.

This victory was notable for Pakistan since it was the country’s first Olympic gold medal in 40 years.

In addition, it was the country’s first individual Olympic gold medal.
