Raja has filed a petition to challenge the Supreme Court’s July 4 decision.

According to the petition, the Supreme Court directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to consult with the chief justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC) regarding the appointment of judges to investigate rigging applications, pointing out that the SC had not issued any guidelines in its July 4 verdict.

Raja went on to say in the application that the LHC justices were correct in appointing judges, which the ECP should have accepted rather than objecting to.

Evaluating the SC’s decision to overturn the LHC judgment, Raja stated that the highest court had not suspended the judges designated to rule on electoral rigging, and therefore the ECP had no power to challenge the LHC decision.

“Only LHC can decide the jurisdiction of the judges of election tribunals of Punjab,” according to him.
