Uzma Bukhari condemns Imran Khan’s conditional apology, calls him ‘mastermind of May 9 uprising’

LAHORE:Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has criticised former Prime Minister Imran Khan over his offer of a conditional apology, and labelled him as the ‘mastermind behind the failed May 9 insurrection.

Uzma stated in a statement on Thursday that individuals had been misled and incited over the course of a year.

She added that on the day of Imran Khan’s detention, his senior colleagues raised concerns among fans by stating that their leader’s life was in danger. It led people to come to the streets, she explained.

The Punjab communications minister further stated that Imran Khan had previously threatened that if he was detained again, his followers would respond similarly. She said that PTI members have targeted military sites, as reported by international media.

According to Uzma, the’mastermind of the May 9 revolt is now brazenly demanding for a conditional apology.’

“On one hand, he burns the house of Pakistan’s founder, and on the other, he shamelessly seeks a conditional apology.”

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), which also governs at the national level, has claimed that there can be no apologies for terrorism.

The Chief Minister went on to say that an apology is for a mistake, whereas a crime is punishable.

“Attacking one’s own country is terrorism, not a mistake.”
